Filling the science gaps for a sustainable and predictable ocean: a science to policy dialogue

In the context of an international scientific workshop promoted by CEODOS, AtlantEco and the Tara Ocean Foundation, partners are organizing a Science to Policy dialogue session, inviting together researchers from relevant regional and international projects (AtlantEco, CEODOS, OceanIA, Plankt’ECO) and representatives of national and regional institutions working on Ocean policy issues.

The aim is to work on the main challenges and gaps to overcome for building a more robust science to ocean policy interface related to genomics, omics data and data sciences. These emerging techniques of data analysis, including processing of omics data, bioinformatics analysis for big data, mathematical and physical modeling, are starting to be considered in ocean policy definitions, as recently seen in the High Seas BBNJ agreement or also in the Digital Sequence regulations under UNCDB. post 2020 biodiversity framework agenda.
