How to get to the School
Below are directions to the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the University of Chile (which includes the building of the oldest Engineering School in the country, founded in 1853), of which the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) and the Department of Mathematical Engineering are part.
Address: Beauchef 851, Santiago (View in Google Maps).

Santiago Airport
Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL) is located approximately 20 kilometers from downtown Santiago.
Metro Santiago
The Santiago Metro is one of the most efficient and safest underground transportation systems in the region. It currently operates seven lines connecting a large portion of the city and is fully integrated into the RED system (Santiago Metro map). During weekdays, trains run every 2 to 3 minutes. Frequency decreases after 9:00 p.m., as well as on weekends and public holidays. Please note that during peak hours (7:00–9:00 a.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m.), stations can be very crowded. During these times, some Metro lines operate under the Express Routes system, which divides stations into red and green stops to speed up travel. Depending on the train’s color, not all trains stop at every station. Complete and up-to-date information, including maps, line connections, trip planning tools, and schedules, is available on the official Metro website.
Taxis and Ride-Hailing Applications
Taxis are also widely available in major cities across the country. In Chile, official taxis are black with a yellow roof and orange license plates. The base fare is CLP 500, plus CLP 170 to CLP 220 for every 200 meters traveled or per minute of waiting time (as of August 2026). Fares must be clearly displayed on the windshield, and vehicles must have a visible taximeter for passengers. Taxis can also be requested through ride-hailing apps such as Uber, Cabify, and Didi. International ride-hailing applications such as Uber, Cabify, and Didi operate in Chile and allow payment by credit card or cash.
