Santiago is one of the few capital cities in the world which has easy access both to mountains –just 50 Kms. away–, and beaches, 100 Kms. away. In fact, it is possible to visit the mountains (with several trekking trials) as well as the famous beach resort of Viña del Mar or picturesque Valparaiso, Chile’s main port, in just one day.
Numerous villages located in the countryside around Santiago invite the visitor to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of country life. Tourists may also visit the vineyards and try the delicious Chilean wines.

Easter Island Easter Island, known in Chile as Isla de Pascua, is a perfect triangle-shaped island which lies in the midst of the Pacific Ocean about 2,000 air miles west of Santiago. It is a fascinating outdoor museum of a mysterious ancient people.
San Pedro de Atacama The attraction of the Chilean North is San Pedro de Atacama, from where you can visit the Tatio Geysers, some Andean lagoons and the Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley). Visit the beautiful landscape of Toconao and the Atacama Salt Flat where the elegant flamingos reside. Or explore the more historical aspect by visiting the Gustavo La Paige Archeological Museum.
Patagonia
Patagonia is the stage for some of the world’s greatest adventures. Even if we know little of the place, its very name evokes the wild natural beauty and unknown frontiers of the end of the earth. Torres del Paine National Park and World Biosphere Reserve is the most famous of the vast protected areas in the Magallanes Region.

Public Transport:

Santiago’s public transport has 5 subways lines, 290 buses lines and good and cheap taxis that cover the whole city. The subway system called Metro is safe, quick and efficient. Metro tickets are available at the subway stations. Other way to pay the trips is with the “Bip Card”, an intelligent card which can be loaded with money beforehand. Each trip has a cost of about 1USD. “Bip Card” is also used to pay the bus trips.
