In optimization, the local or global extrema of a real function on a set is sought; problems in which both the function and the set are semi-algebraic play a fundamental role. Therefore, real algebraic geometry and optimization are closely linked, and progress in each field requires progress in the other. Moreover, the use of semi-algebraic techniques in Optimization, and more generally in Applied Mathematics, has expanded in recent years, since the most common operations that arise in optimization, while destroying smoothness, respect semi-algebraicity.<\/p>\n<p>The present project deals with several key problems in real algebraic geometry, polynomial and semi-algebraic optimization, and with structural results in constrained optimization and non-smooth dynamics. Its objective is to promote and strengthen collaboration and the creation of research-development networks in the field of mathematics through joint projects.<\/p>\n<p>The program makes calls from which research and development projects in the areas of mathematics are selected and supported, which contain a potential dimension of technological transfer and innovation and with a regional component, through financing the mobility of researchers . The approved projects have a duration of two years and involve at least two countries from the South American region and one or more team(s) of French scientists.<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-divider su-divider-style-default\" style=\"margin:15px 0;border-width:5px;border-color:#2C2C84\"><a href=\"#\" style=\"color:#999999\">Go to top<\/a><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"proyecto_argo\">Proyecto MATH AmSud \u2013 ARGO: Algebraic Real Geometry and Optimization<\/h2>\n<p>La Geometr\u00eda Algebraica Real se ocupa del estudio de los conjuntos de soluciones reales de igualdades polin\u00f3micas (variedades algebraicas reales) o de desigualdades (conjuntos semi algebraicos). En la optimizaci\u00f3n, se busca el extremo local o global de una funci\u00f3n real en un conjunto; los problemas en los que tanto la funci\u00f3n como el conjunto son semi-algebraicos juegan un papel fundamental. Por lo tanto, la geometr\u00eda algebraica real y la optimizaci\u00f3n est\u00e1n estrechamente ligadas, y el avance en cada uno de los campos requiere el avance en el otro. Adem\u00e1s, el uso de t\u00e9cnicas semi-algebraicas en Optimizaci\u00f3n, y m\u00e1s generalmente en Matem\u00e1tica Aplicada, se ha ampliado en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, ya que las operaciones m\u00e1s comunes que surgen en la optimizaci\u00f3n, aunque destruyen la suavidad, respetan la semi-algebraicidad.<\/p>\n<p>El presente proyecto trata varios problemas clave en la geometr\u00eda algebraica real, la optimizaci\u00f3n polin\u00f3mica y semi-algebraica, y con resultados estructurales en la optimizaci\u00f3n restringida y la din\u00e1mica no lisa. El objetivo del mismo es promover y fortalecer la colaboraci\u00f3n y la creaci\u00f3n de redes de investigaci\u00f3n-desarrollo en el \u00e1mbito de las matem\u00e1ticas a trav\u00e9s de la realizaci\u00f3n de proyectos conjuntos.<\/p>\n<p>El programa realiza convocatorias a partir de las cuales se seleccionan y apoyan proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n y desarrollo en las \u00e1reas de las matem\u00e1ticas, que contengan una dimensi\u00f3n potencial de transferencia y de innovaci\u00f3n tecnol\u00f3gica y con componente regional, a trav\u00e9s del financiamiento de la movilidad de investigadores.
