Inspired by the remarkable success of the UTokyo Forum 2013 held in Santiago and Sao Paulo (Nov 2013), the First Chile-Japan Academic Forum at UTokyo was held a year later in Tokyo (6-9 Oct 2014). The Second Chile-Japan Academic Forum at Patagonia, Chile (7-10 Nov 2016) and the Third Chile-Japan Academic Forum in Nikko, Japan (25-28 Sep 2018) were held as a follow-up activity to further encourage the strong research collaboration long taking place between Chile and Japan in different areas of knowledge. The forum was proposed as a biannual activity taking place alternatively in Chile and Japan. However, due to the pandemic, the Fourth Chile-Japan Academic Forum<\/strong> was postponed and it will now be held in Regi\u00f3n de Los Lagos, Chile (28 Nov – 2 Dec 2022)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The forum organization is led by the main universities of Chile and Japan, University of Chile<\/a> (UChile), Catholic University of Chile<\/a> (UC), University of Concepci\u00f3n<\/a> (UdeC), University of Los Lagos<\/a> (ULagos), in collaboration with the University of Tokyo<\/a> (UTokyo). The goal of the Forum is to establish an open academic platform with the participation of third-party collaborators from other universities and research centers around the world with strong regional ties to Asia and Latin America.<\/p>\n
