\"Micha\u0142Micha\u0142 Kowalczyk is a Polish mathematician, full professor at the Department of Mathematical Engineering<\/a> of the University of Chile, and associate researcher at the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM)<\/a>. His scientific work has mainly revolved around partial differential equations.<\/p>\n

He received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1988 from the University of Warsaw, Poland. He obtained his PhD in mathematics in 1994 at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville, USA, where he also started his professional career. He has worked at several American universities and is currently a full professor at the University of Chile.<\/p>\n

His primary research area is in the analysis of solutions of nonlinear elliptic and parabolic singular perturbation problems. He has studied the existence of entire solutions of some elliptic equations. He has also been involved in a project on parabolic equations and systems modelling molecular level transport phenomena.<\/p>\n

His work has been published in the Journal of Functional Analysis, Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, Communications on Pure and Applied Mathematics and Duke Mathematical Journal, as well as in the world’s most prestigious mathematical journals: Annals of Mathematics and Journal of the American Mathematical Society.<\/p>\n

Acerca de Micha\u0142 Kowalczyk<\/h2>\n

Micha\u0142 Kowalczyk es un matem\u00e1tico polaco, profesor titular del Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Matem\u00e1tica<\/a> de la Universidad de Chile e investigador asociado del Centro de Modelamiento Matem\u00e1tico (CMM)<\/a>. Su trabajo cient\u00edfico se ha desarrollado en torno a las ecuaciones diferenciales parciales.<\/span><\/p>\n

Se licenci\u00f3 en matem\u00e1ticas en 1988 en la Universidad de Varsovia, Polonia. Obtuvo su doctorado en matem\u00e1ticas en 1994 en la Universidad de Tennessee – Knoxville, EE. UU., donde tambi\u00e9n inici\u00f3 su carrera profesional. Ha trabajado en varias universidades norteamericanas y actualmente es profesor de la Universidad de Chile.<\/span><\/p>\n

Su principal \u00e1rea de investigaci\u00f3n es el an\u00e1lisis de soluciones de problemas no lineales el\u00edpticos y parab\u00f3licos de perturbaci\u00f3n singular. Ha estudiado la existencia de soluciones enteras de algunas ecuaciones el\u00edpticas. Tambi\u00e9n ha participado en un proyecto sobre ecuaciones parab\u00f3licas y sistemas que modelizan fen\u00f3menos de transporte a nivel molecular.<\/span><\/p>\n

Su trabajo se ha publicado en Journal of Functional Analysis, Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, Communications on Pure and Applied Mathematics y Duke Mathematical Journal, as\u00ed como en las revistas matem\u00e1ticas m\u00e1s prestigiosas del mundo: Annals of Mathematics y Journal of the American Mathematical Society.<\/span><\/p>\n
